News release of the festival "Crystal Seal", 2010

We are glad to introduce you the 5^th Baikal Festival of the ice sculpture “Crystal Seal” that will take place on the Baikal Lake’s ice in the Listvyanka village since 6^th till 13^th of February in 2010 under the support of the Agency of the tourism attached to Irkutsk region’s administration, Irkutsk district’s administration and Listvyanka village’s administration.

 

In 2004 the project “Crystal Seal” took place for the first time in the framework of the “Winter Contest, 2004” under the support of the administration of Irkutsk region and the administration of Irkutsk city. In 2007 the contest of the ice sculpture “Crystal Seal” entered into the project “Crystal Fairy Tale” with 14 teams – participants. And in 2008 it was the first time when this Festival took place on the immediate ice of Baikal Lake and got 16 teams from 10 cities of Russia to take part in it. This year, it is planned to attract about 50 sculptors from different cities of Russia and foreign countries.

 

This year the Festival is planned to be on the territory of the Listvyanka village, second berth, in front of the hotel “Mayak”. On the Baikal Lake’s ice will be erected ice village in the framework of which will be the Baikal Festival of the ice sculpture “Crystal Seal – 2010”. The name of the Festival is “Miracles of Baikal”.

6th of February, 2010 at 2 p.m. – grand opening of the 5^th contest of the ice sculpture “Crystal Seal, 2010”.

During the week – since 6th till 13th of February, 2010 – sculptors from different parts of Russia are going to fighting for the title of the best artist in audience’s presence.

13th of February, 2010 – from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m.- evaluation of the sculptures by the jury, summing up the results of the contest, rewarding of the winners and ceremonial closing of the Festival.

After the summing up of the results, since 14th of February till 14th of March, 2010 on the territory of the ice village there will be an exhibition of the sculptures for the visitors and mass-cultural activity and a small show program.

Moreover, there will be an ice restaurant, a covered ice-hole for the bathing, the residence of Grandfather Frost, an ice-slope, ice rooms – igloo, the ice attractions and a huge skating rink.

 

Creative group “Crystal Swan”, tour operating company “BaikalVisa”, under the support of the administration of Irkutsk district, the administration of the municipal education of Listvyanka village, the Agency of the tourism attached to Irkutsk region’s administration.

 

Artists’ teams, who are supposed to be from different parts of Russia and different foreign countries. The team should consist of 3 people (including the leader) not younger than 18 years.
