Ulan Bator excursions
City tour of Ulan Bator, 4 hours
You`ll start the city tour at the main city square, which name is Sukhabaatar. The Sukhabaatar square is surrounding by cultural, art and state establishments. You`ll visit the National Museum of Mongolian History. Exhibits of this museum show the history and culture of Mongols from ages as early as the Stone Age and up to the modern days. Then you`ll visit The Bogd Khaan Winter Palace Museum which was a residence of the last Bogd Khaan of Mongolia, Javzandamba. The Winter Palace was built by draughts offered by Russian emperor Nikolay-II to Bogd Khaan. It keeps original things of Bogd Khaan, the unique stuffed animals, the religious objects of the Tibetan Buddhism and other items. You`ll continue to the famous Gandan Monastery which is the center for learning and practicing Buddha's teachings in Mongolia, was built at the beginning of XX century. You`ll sea amazing Buddhist rituals, mysterious chanting of monks and believers in their prayers, and the main relic of the Monastery, 26-meters tall gold-plated statue of God Avaloki Teshvara-Megjid Janraisag. The city tour will end by visiting the Parc of Young Buddha and the city observation platform of Zaisan Hill where you`ll admire a spectacular view and take beautiful picture of Mongolian capital. On your request you`ll visit shops of Gobi factory.
Excursion to the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, 7 hours
The Gorkhi-Terelj National Parc is located 70 km from Ulaanbaatar. The territory of park is 2864 square km. This Park is the most visited natural tourist sight. It is famous by its huge stone sculptures (original forms of granite). The rock Melhij-hal like a big turtle is a symbol of Terelj. There are also many rocks amazing tourists by its exotic forms like a hare, a sleeping dinosaur, a person with a book on knees in the park. On the road it will be possible to explore the cave where during ancient times people lived. The National Park is a popular place for hikking, rafting, horse-back riding and trekking tours. There are also many children's summer camps and tourist ger camps in Terelj. During the tour you`ll see the turtle mountain, the local Monastery, you`ll visit a nomad family, know the nomad mode of life and taste a traditional Mongolian dish `horhog` cooked from the mutton.
Excursion to the Chinggis Khan Memorial complex, 3 hours
Chinggis Khan Memorial complex is located 53 km from Ulaanbaatar, not far from the Tuul river. 42 meters statue of Chinggis Khaan is situated in the center of complex which was built on Tsonjin Boldog hill, in the territory of Erdene soum, Tov aimag. The hill is located next to Chinggis Hairkhan, one of Mongolia’s sacred mountains. The site of the monument has special significance in the history of Mongolia. A platform on the shoulder of the horse will provide you a panoramic view of the surrounding area. There is a museum, a restaurant, a bar, a café, a meeting hall at the complex. The Chinggis Khaan statue is the biggest in the world.
Excursion to the Monastery Manzshir, 2-3 hours
The Manzshir Monastery (Manzshir – the god of wisdom) is located 30 km from Ulaanbaatar in the larch forest on a southern slope of sacred mountain Bogd Khaan, at the altitude of 1800 m above sea level. The Monastery was founded in 1773. In the beginning of XIX century more then 300 lamas met here for prayers. You`ll see images of Buddha at the granite rocks near the Monastery and visit the Museum of Nature located at the territory of the Monastery.
