Vladivostok excursions
City tour with visit to the Local Lore Museum of Arceniev, 3,5 hours
This excursion is a very good chance to know Vladivostok. During the tour you`ll visit main attractions and highlights of Vladivostok: Vladivostok Railway Station – a terminus of Great Transsiberian Rail Road, distance to Moscow is 9288 km.; the Memorial Submarine S-56 – the famous pacific fleet submarine that sank 10 fascist ships during World War II; the Vladivostok Central Square – the place of public holidays celebration, the memorial complex at Korabelnaya Naberezhnaya commemorates the naval glory of Vladivostok. You`ll enjoy the best view of Vladivostok, the famous Golden Horn bay, Amursky and Usurisky bays, the Russian island from the top of the Eagle`s Nest Cliff. You may get up the hill by funicular rail (cable car). You`ll visit the Museum of Regional studies of Arceniev to see exhibits of rich flora and fauna, culture and history of Vladivostok and Primorsky region. The museum has about 200000 exhibits which present history, ethnography, archaeology and nature collections. There is also a great exposition on indigenous people of Primorye (their lifestyle, dwellings, clothes).
Excursion to the Vladivostok Fortress, 3 hours
The excursion will acquaint with the history of establishing Vladivostok Fortress, with the buildings of the land defence main line (1910-1916). You will come along the main fortress' road and learn about planners and builders of Vladivostok fortress; you`ll admire a view of the city and Amurskiy bay and visit Fort 7 - the last fort of land defence and one of of the strongest coastal fortresses in the world, located on a hill 164 m above sea level.
Excursion to Vladivostok Oceanarium, 1,5 hours
Vladivostok Oceanarium is one of the most important sights of the city, located in the center. It was opened in 1991. The oceanarium is the sea museum including dry and live expositions which are devoted the nature of Pacific ocean. It has 2 exposition halls which total area more than 1500 sq. m. There are 13 aquariums with inhabits from fresh waters of Far East, Peter the Great Gulf, Japan and Okhotsk seas. The part of exposition is dedicated to the decorative aquarian fishes. The Vladivostok Oceanarium contains about 120 kids of marine life (more than 2 thousand species). The Oceanarium is a modern laboratory of scientific researches and annually visited by 160 – 180 thousands people.
Boat excursion to Russian Island, 5 hours
Russian islands is located in the Peter the Great Gulf, Sea of Japan. It is the largest island in Peter the Great Gulf, separated from the mainland by the Eastern Strait of Bosphorus. Being a part of Vladivostok Marine Fortress and one of the Pacific Fleet Bases, Russian Island protects Vladivostok from the sea side. You will see batteries and underground fortifications of the Fortress. During excursion you`ll have a possibility to enjoy picturesque views of the Pacific ocean and will visit a number of forts and batteries which were built at the beginning of the XXth century. You`ll have a lunch at Voroshilov Battery.
